The main criteria for participation
The TELE-MIT study is recruiting 15 adults with mitochondrial disease at the Nice University Hospital, who are able to walk with or without assistance and are equipped with a computer with a camera or a smartphone.
The objective
The study aims to determine the tolerance and effectiveness of a personalized, at-home training program combining endurance and muscle strengthening, followed Par a video consultation. The investigators’ hypothesis is that such a program would have benefits on muscle strength, exercise tolerance, and functional capacities without increasing the level of mutated and normal mitochondria (heteroplasmy), or the level of blood creatine phosphokinase (CPK), an enzyme released in cases of muscle pain.
In practice
TELE-MIT lasts a year and a half, with a six-month observation phase followed Par a year of tailored physical training. Throughout the study, quality of life, physical activity in personal and professional life, fatigue, physical condition and functional abilities, muscle strength, as well as heteroplasmy and CPK levels are regularly assessed. The study requires approximately four visits to the research center.
The study is being conducted at the Nice University Hospital.
